How to Survive a Bear Market…

Don’t overreact, be ready and embrace it.
Think of it as an opportunity!

Think of the stock market as “the process of permanent advance, punctuated, from time to time, by significant, but temporary declines.” Nick Murray

Bear markets are significant, but temporary declines. By investing in the market, we must accept this certainty. That said, during a bear market we can be comforted by gaining some perspective.

By investing in the stock market, you are a business owner. With The McClelland Financial Group, our clients own over 9,000 companies in their portfolios. Companies are in the business of making money for their shareholders. They will attempt to generate revenue and reduce expenses to provide more profit than previous years.

Look at the world around you. Are there still cars on the road? Are malls still full of eager shoppers? Are you flying on a plane that is full or half empty? Regardless of what the stock market is doing, the world still continues. Commerce continues. People will continue to consume goods and services to live.

Changing how you look at investing in the stock market can prepare you for any bear market. Going forward, you may even look forward to seeing the bear because it means that the stock market is on sale and a recovery will inevitability follow.
