During the final quarter of 2018, the S&P 500 declined almost 14%. Just prior to 4Q 2018, the financial media was naturally (conveniently?) bullish as the market was peaking in September. But as it reversed course, the media turned decidedly bearish as the market went into another run-of-the-mill intra-year correction. All of a sudden, as if they didn’t even see it coming, this was the newest beginning of the end."

We’re almost a quarter way through 2019. Some of us have set some outstanding goals and are well on our way to achieving them. The rest of us may still not know where to start, whether it be that you are unsure on how to set a goal that’s measurable or you need some advice/guidance on what you should be focusing on.

How early or late you decide to take that first step is one of the key determining factors on how substantial your retirement or savings fund will grow to over time. A Survivor's Guide To
The Sandwich Generation

At age 41, I find myself on the cusp of entering the sandwich generation. My parents are relying on me much more for not only financial advice, but longer term planning. It’s quite difficult given the proximity of our addresses but also that my wife and I are extremely busy with raising our 3 young children. The inevitable push and pull between the two generations will worsen so it’s important for me to get ahead of it and minimize the struggle.
